What is Multiplication?

What is multiplication? You’d be surprised by answer. But I I’ll tell you anyway. Multiplication is basically…. ADDITION! YUP! You heard me right. But I can explain how.
When you do Addition, you add the number you got to the number you started with. But in multiplication, you do something called” repeated addition.”
For example, 3+3+3+3=12 or 4+4+4=12. They both equal 12, because it’s reversed. First, we added 3 four times. Then we added 4 three times. This is how you do repeated addition.

Here, you can see a multiplication equation that represents 3+3+3+3=12 or…… 4+4+4=12. So when you write a multiplication sentence, you write an x most of the time.
Let’s have 1 example of a problem. Sally has 3 shelves. Each shelf has 5. How many books does she have? Well, since there are 3 shelves, we would say 3 groups. And since she has 5 books on each shelf, we would say 5 in each group. So we would do 5+5+5 or 3+3+3+3+3. If you added them up, it would equal 15. So Sally has 15 books.
Now that we’ve practiced, let’s do some real problems.
MULTIPLICATION PROBLEMS
