We will start with the names of the main 12 gods and goddesses. (A god is a male and a goddess is a female.) Here are the names: Zeus, Hera, Poseidon, Athena, Demeter, Ares, Apollo, Aphrodite, Artemis, and Hermes.

Those were the names of the 12 gods and goddesses. Zeus is the King of the gods. He is the god of sky and thunder. Hera is the queen of the gods. Hera is the goddess of marriage and birth. Poseidon is one of Zeus’s Brothers. He is the god of the sea, storms, earthquakes, and horses. Next we have Athena. Athena is a daughter of Zeus. She came out of Zeus’s forehead, wearing full armor. Athena is the goddess of wisdom, battle, and handicrafts. Demeter is the goddess of agriculture and harvest. Now we have Ares. He is the god of war. Apollo is a god of many things. He is the god of the sun, light, music, healing, poetry, prophecy, and archery. Aphrodite is the goddess of love and beauty. Artemis is the goddess of the moon and the hunt.

Each god and goddess has a meaning, and that meaning is important.
